Ronald W Hyde

August 3, 1933 — June 30, 2018

Ronald W. Hyde passed away on June 30, 2018 at the age of 84. He was a strong, hardworking, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was deeply loved by all those that knew him and he will be greatly missed. Ronald was born in Soda Springs, ID and raised in Alpine, Utah. He served for a time in the military, and later married Geri Evans. They had 3 wonderful children and were later divorced. Ron worked for the Salt Lake City Water Department, where he met Susan Moss. They were married April 22, 1977 and later sealed in the Salt Lake temple August 18, 1980 and had 2 children together. Ron and Susan celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary this past April.
Ronald is survived by his brother, Reed Hyde; wife Susan Hyde; children Bruce Hyde (Kim), Leslie DeMull, Rhonda Eastwold (Mark), Scott Hyde (Meghann) and Amanda Johnson (Tolon); 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, sister, former wife, and many close friends.
Ron enjoyed old westerns, especially ones with The Duke. He also enjoyed watching the news and would all day if he could. He was an avid fan of The Price Is Right, with Bob Barker. Nobody worked as hard as Ron. He was very service oriented. Ron cherished the time he had with his family. He also loved all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved to hold them and spend time with them. Ron was a collector of everything. He spent years collecting quarters for every state for each of his grandchildren. Ron was never in a big enough hurry that he didn’t have time to pull over to collect used pop cans or an abandoned tool on the side of the road. He was very self-less and genuinely cared about all those in his life.
Dad passed away at home, in his favorite spot on the couch, while watching TV. The family would like to thank Bruce and Christopher Hyde, for all they did. We would also love to thank West Valley Fire Fighter medic engine 71 and medic ambulance 74, A platoon. A special thanks to all the staff at Jordan Valley Medical Center – West Valley Campus, for all their help for the days leading up to Ron’s death, as well as the day he passed. Their emergency department staff are amazing and helped us all through a very rough time.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to ask for donations to the Veterans Memorial Hospital, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
