Ronald Steel

March 2, 1933 — October 8, 2015

Ronald Garth Steel, our loving husband and father, passed away in his home surrounded by his family on October 8th, 2015. Garth was born to Leonard Steel and Belva Crittendin on March 2nd, 1933. He married the love of his life, Gloria Wade Steel, on August 29th, 1957, later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 16th, 2002.
Garth loved and enjoyed everyone and considered everyone his friend. His greatest joy was his family and spending time with them, whether it was fishing, camping, hunting, four-wheeling, or traveling on one of his adventures. His favorite thing to do was to go “bumming around” or to tinker in the back yard. Garth was a 35-year employee of Kennecott Copper and a lifelong resident of Lark and South Jordan. He enjoyed serving in various church callings, serving in the LDS temple, and serving a church employment mission with Gloria.
Garth is survived by his wife Gloria Wade Steel, children Ron (Brenda) Steel, Bob (Kathy) Steel, Jolene (Rex) Petersen, grandchildren David Steel, Wade (Mindy) Steel, Melissa (Brandon) McKee, Trent Steel, Austin Petersen, great-grandchildren Rhyen, Presley, Tucker, and Colton, and siblings Norman (Mariel) Steel and Carol (Royal) Michaelsen. Preceded in death by parents Leonard and Belva Steel.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at the Country Crossing 9th Ward LDS church, 2812 West 11800 South, South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held at the same location Tuesday, October 13 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm and one hour prior to the funeral. Interment to follow at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 S. Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT.
