Ronald Meeks

Ronald Alton Meeks passed away on April 21, 2016 in Draper, Utah. He was born May 29, 1944 in Inglewood, California to Alton Cois Meeks and Irma Nancy Nooner. He grew up in the Bay Area of California, spending many summers with his Grandma and Grandpa Nooner on their farm in Arkansas. Ron loved competitive sports. He excelled in baseball and played for BYU.
Ron served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Brasil South Mission from 1964 – 1966. He loved the people, the country and the missionary work. Upon his return, he continued his studies at BYU. He met his roommate’s cousin and fell completely in love with her. Ron married Marilyn Bryant on August 29, 1967 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He graduated from BYU in 1968 majoring in Political Science. His first job was with the Oakland, California Police department. After 21/2 years, he was hired as a Special Agent with the Federal Government working in criminal investigations for 30 years. His career took him from coast to coast and back to Brazil where his family lived for five years. Whenever he was transferred, Ron found opportunities to serve. He held many ward and stake callings including home teacher, bishop, temple ordinance worker and stake patriarch. In 1993 Ron was called to preside over the Great Portugal Porto Mission with his wife and two youngest children. What a great privilege and honor! His service continues now; he has been prepared.
Ron is survived by his wife of 49 years – Marilyn and their five children; Andrea (Chris) Cowling, Aaron (Adriana), Roger (Meghan), Russell (Carrie) and Amy (Ian) Jack, sister Claudine Duitsman of Temecula, California, 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Draper Utah Mountain Point Stake Center, 573 E. 13800 S., Draper, Utah. Viewing will be from 9:30 – 10:30 prior to the funeral. Interment will follow at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery, 3115 E. 7800 S. (Bengal Blvd.) Cottonwood Heights, Utah.Service Information
