Ronald Marvin Opland passed away October 14, 2019 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He succumbed to the complications of pneumonia with his wife of 67 years and family friends at his side.
Ron was born on August 20, 1928 in Greenville, Michigan to Carl Rudolf Opland and Pauline Viva Buell. He married Charmaine Yvonne Ochs in April 1952.
Ron graduated from Pontiac High School in 1947, drafted to the United States Army in 1950 serving stateside in Colorado Springs and Leadville, Colorado. Following his service in the Army, he worked for Chrysler Motors in Detroit, then became a mechanical engineer with a career path in California and Utah, retiring from Sperry Univac/Unisys.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 3900 South 2700 East, in Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, November 2, 2019 to honor and celebrate Ron, a caring son, husband, father, grandfather and friend.Service Information
