Ronald Lyle Anderson

June 4, 1933 — November 12, 2021

Ronald Anderson, our beloved husband and father passed away Friday evening November 12, 2021 after succumbing to Covid related illness. Born on June 4, 1933 to Joseph and Doris Anderson of Salt Lake City Utah. He married Rexine Burke on August 12, 1958.
Ron was a quiet man, yet he spoke more clearly through his actions. He loved his family and taught us well through his example.
He was a hard worker. As a skilled sheet metal tradesman, he was able to support his wife and four children and acquire his home in Millcreek. He was a thrifty man but provided everything that the family needed. He could repair almost anything. With his skills he built several campers and snowmobile trailers. He also loved to find second-hand lawnmowers and bikes to repair them for use or sale. He had a great pride is his work. He would often take trips with his family out of his way to show interesting projects he was working on. Many a building in Salt Lake City portrays his workmanship from heating and ventilation systems to exterior ornamental metal.
He was a loyal man. He was dedicated to his country. He had great pride of being a navy veteran of the Korean Conflict where he achieved the rank of machinists mate second class. He supported the Sheet Metal Workers union throughout his entire life. He had maintained strong friendships. If you were his friend, he would visit you often in his free time and he never waivered in his commitment. It pained him greatly as his friends passed before him as he lived longer than most of his friends.
He had a great love of the outdoors. If the weekends weren’t filled with some outdoor activity with family and friends, then he felt they were wasted weekends. The family never spent the weekends in the city; we were out camping, boating or fishing in the summer, hunting in the fall and snowmobiling or tubing in the winter. These activities created great connections and lasting memories between his and his friend’s families.
He was a very fit man. He understood the importance of health. He would ride an exercise bike consistently every morning and every evening. He maintained this up to the last week of his life. In his retirement, he enjoyed walking the dog. He would walk for hours around Millcreek. He often joked that he wore the dogs out by walking them so much.
The lesson he has given us is if we could aspire to do better on actually doing these things rather than talking about them then we too would live a long and healthy life like he was able to have.
He is survived by his wife Rexine Anderson, sister Sandy Horsley, daughter Tina Storey (Jeffrey), daughter Tracy Knight, son Donald Anderson (Gina), daughter Tara Schiff , nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by Joseph and Doris Anderson and sister Gale Allred.
Funeral services will be held on November 27, 2021 at 1 pm, at the Murray Cemetery.
