Ronald Joe Craft

Ronald Joe Craft passed away on November 3, 2020 at home, surrounded by his loving partner, Jane, of 35 years and his caring daughter, Danica.
Ron was born April 21, 1948 in Huntsville, Alabama to David and Mary Craft. At age 10, Ron moved, with his parents, to Brigham City, Utah where he developed a heightened interest in cars. Ron was practicing his racing at the early age of 15. Throughout Ron’s life, he felt the need for speed. He studied auto mechanics at Weber State for two years but realized he knew more than the professors, so he dropped out! Exhaust systems, engines and transmissions became an integral part of his journey which took him on the path to jobs dealing with the automotive industry. For the last 22 years, Ron was the oval track flagman and drag strip manager of Rocky Mountain Raceway. (RMR) “Drag Racing was in his blood and will never ever leave!”
Ron met and married Connie Speth in 1970. They had a beautiful intelligent daughter, Danica. Though they divorced, Connie and Ron stayed close personal friends and jointly raised their daughter.
In addition to racing, Ron had other passions in his life. He spent countless hours on his boat at Lake Powel and touring on his Harley Davidson Road King Police Bike. At one time, he was a member of the Bees Motorcycle Club. He was also a member of the Staggs Car Club and the Ogden Eagles. He liked traveling to Mexico and going on cruises. He and Jane spent the last ten years RVing at the Ogden Eagles Campground in Huntsville, Utah and the winters in Yuma, Arizona. Ron relished the time he spent with his family, Danica and her husband, Nathan Christensen, BayLee and her husband, River Schenck, Tyler Hansen and his girlfriend, Christina, Cresida Hansen and Ethan Hansen.
Ron is survived by his partner Jane Landon, his daughter Danica and her husband Nathan, his grandchildren and additional bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren and his ex-wife Connie Craft.
Ron never fully understood the positive impact he had on everyone he met in his work and his personal life, but upon his death, the outpouring of love and support from friends made it evident to all.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary. A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Monday from 9:45 – 10:45 AM at the same location. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the funeral service is for family first, then by invitation only. Following Salt Lake County’s mandate on facial coverings, face masks are required at all public gatherings. Social distancing will be enforced. For those unable to attend the services, Memorial Mortuaries and Cemeteries are offering a livestreaming of the funeral service on Zoom. Please see instructions below.
