Ronald Jay Thomson

Our loving father and grandfather passed away January 8, 2022. He was born November 5, 1936 in South Jordan, UT to Effie Emelia Thomson and Jesse West Thomson. He was the youngest of seven children.
Ron grew up in the Union, Utah area and was a faithful lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many positions in the church. As a young man he wrestled in high school and college, served an LDS mission in the west central states, including Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota and he attended the University of Utah.
Ron married his eternal companion Mary “Joan” Lasater on December 18, 1959. Ron had five children with Joan. He and Joan had 21 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Ron was a kind and gentle person, dedicated to his children and caring for Joan throughout the many years she was ill.
After Joan passed, Ron married Luana Fowers and enjoyed being a part of the lives of his six step-sons and their families. He will be greatly missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Beulah, Harold, Clara, and Edith, his wife of 46 years, Joan, his second wife Luana Fowers, and his grand-daughter Elizabeth Thomson and great-granddaughter Kendra Gold. He is survived by his sister Elaine, his brother Melvin, his children Jeff, Brad (Laurel), Gerald (Cheree), Jennifer (Randy), Christina, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m., at Memorial Murray Mortuary, 5850 South 900 East, Murray, UT 84121. Family and friends may visit Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 at Murray Memorial Mortuary, and Saturday 9:30 to 10:30 at Memorial Murray Mortuary.
