Ronald David Matern

May 21, 1945 — March 7, 2022

Born May 21st, 1945 in Salt Lake City to Adolf and Lavern Matern. He was the youngest of 5 boys. Ron passed away peacefully with his 3 daughters by his side on March 7th 2022. He worked for U Dot for 30 years until he retired in 1996. He babysat his triplet grandkids until they started school.
Surviver by his 3 daughters: Lisa Tafoya (Dustin), Kathy Matern Wood (Clarke), Rhonda Taber (Kevin), 5 grandchildren Melissa Allgood, Edward, Evin, and Eva Taber and great grandchild Aliana Roman.
Proceded in death by his parents, Adolf and Lavern, 4 brothers Alfie, Fred, Dwayne and Otto Matern and granddaughter Emma Taber.
Dad will be missed by all and especially his grandchildren. The family would like to thank Dr. Wallace Akerley and his staff at the Huntsman Cancer institute and entire staff at the huntsman at home/CNS hospice care.
There will be a viewing will take place on Monday 3/14 from 6:00-8:00pm at Memorial Redwood 6500 South Redwood Road. There will be another viewing of Tuesday 3/15 from 9:00-11:00am. Services will take place immediately afterwards. Burial will be at Memorial Mountain View 3115 E Bengal Blvd following the services conclusion.
