Roland Benjamin Woolley returned to his Heavenly Father on January 3, 2025.
Roland was born April 1, 1931, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alpha Harris and William Woolley. He and his family moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1932. He was married to Carol Deane Urdahl in the Mesa Arizona Temple on July 1, 1955.
Roland and Carol’s treasures on earth are their six children, their spouses, twenty-five grandchildren, their spouses, and 34 great-grandchildren.
Roland was baptized at the age of eight and has been active as a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His main goal in life was to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. He filled a mission to the Northwestern States as a young man and later he and his wife Carol served as senior missionaries in Indianapolis, Indiana. He served as a counterintelligence agent in the United States Army during the Korean War. He graduated from UCLA with honors and practiced public accounting as a CPA in the Los Angeles area, becoming a partner in the national accounting firm Seidman and Seidman. In 1974, he and his family moved to St. George, Utah, where he was employed by Dixie College (now Utah Tech University)--first as Controller, then as the Administrative Vice President.
Roland loved projects that included home improvement, gardening, woodworking, and Amateur Radio. He enjoyed outdoor activities with family and friends centered on horses, backpacking, and hiking in the desert accompanied by dogs. In 2019 Roland and Carol moved to Orem and enjoyed getting to know the surrounding area, especially going on rides in Provo Canyon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Woolley and Alpha Harris; his sisters Lucile Smith and her husband Rod and Marjorie Newman and her husband Wayne; and his brother W. Eugene Woolley and his wife Joyce Petrie; a son-in-law, Phil McCombs; as well as two great-grandbabies.
He is survived by his wife Carol Deane (Urdahl) Woolley, and their children: Cynthia Compton (D. Chad), Celeste Santana (Arturo), Scott Woolley (Deb), Cerise McCombs, Licia Peterson (Kurt), and Darryl Woolley (Kathy). Additionally, he is survived by twenty-five grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on January 25, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with a viewing held an hour prior starting at 10:00 AM. This will be located at Memorial Lake Hills Mortuary, 10055 South State Street, Sandy, Utah, 84070.
