Rogerio “Leo” L. Lopez

February 16, 1937 — November 8, 2021

USAF, MSgt, Retired
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle was called home to finish his heavenly duties on November 8, 2021 at the age of 84 due to natural causes.
Rogerio (Roger or Leo as he was best known) was born to Tranquilino and Filia Lopez on February 16, 1937 in Las Trampas, NM. He was the second oldest in a family of 9 kids. He joined the USAF in June 1958 where he went to Lackland AFB, Shepherds AFB, Shaw AFB, 2 years in Japan, 1 year in Thailand and finally getting discharged from Kirtland AFB in March 1963. He joined Utah Air National Guard in June 1963 for 4 years and ultimately staying put with the AF Reserve starting in 1967 at Hill AFB where he worked his way up to rank of Master Sergeant until his retirement in April 1987. One of his passions was to work on and fix F-14 aircrafts.
On September 21, 1963 he married his life partner, Toni Vigil in Midvale, UT. They went on to live in Woods Cross, Glendale and finally, West Jordan, UT raising their 4 kids along the way.
Leo was a jack of all trades. If it was broke, he would fix it. He was always willing to lend a hand when needed and kept busy by picking and selling pinon, picking and roasting green chili, making and selling bird houses and so much more, too much to even list. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers/sisters when visiting his childhood home. He was full of all kinds of stories and may have had one or two tricks up his sleeve. He never lost his sense of humor, even when his health was on the decline, he could still crack a joke and make you laugh. He loved to go fishing, hiking and hunting when he was able and even picked up golfing after retirement.
He is survived by his spouse, Toni, sons, Daniel, Christopher (Shauna Wallace), daughter, Vickie (Donald) Rael and his grandchildren, Mikayla & Donovan Rael, Sophia & Isabelle Lopez all of West Jordan, UT and special family friends, Jeannie Duncan and Danny Vigil. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Tranquilino Jr (Emily), Alex (Ruby), Eddie (Lorraine), Juan (Louella), Genevieve (Victor) Trujillo, Dorthy, Priscilla (Doug) North. As well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Preceded in death and reunited with his son, Ralph, parents, Tranquilino and Filia, his brother Bonifacio, his parent’s in-law, Natividad and Procopio Vigil, and brother’s in-law, Jerry and Joseph Vigil.
The family would like to thank Angie and Lisa with Valeo Home Health & Hospice for their help and thoughtfulness in this most difficult time for our family.
