Robin Johnson
Born to James Marvin and Norma, St. Louis, Missouri.
After a valiant 12-year battle with and defeat of multiple brutal afflictions Robin passed back through the veil February 20, 2021, Sandy, Utah.
Preceded in death by her mother and father.
Survived by her brother, husband, children, and grandchildren.
Graduated Roosevelt High school, St. Louis, MO. 1963
Graduated St. Louis University in Elementary Education.
Married in the Salt Lake Temple 1972.
She taught Kindergarten at Butler Elementary school.
Teaching children was Robin’s passion. Her teaching went far beyond a classroom. While preparing for a party or Thanksgiving or whatever she would teach cooking to nieces and nephews if they cared to learn. If a child asked Robin what a dinosaur was, they needed to be prepared to learn about Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Allosaurus, pterodactyls and a host of others. Children to her were little sponges waiting to soak up knowledge. Never a quick or passing answer. She never talked down to a child.
Her home was always open to her nieces and nephews and their friends, without notice, drop-ins were welcome and encouraged. Many considered her home a second home. Although all were accepted, good behavior was expected. If correction was needed it was unmistaken but issued with love and without condemnation.
Robin loved people. Anytime she met someone new there would be a session that would approach and FBI investigation. Not out of idle curiosity but the better she knew someone the better she could be a friend.
Her second passion was celebrations and parties. If you lost a baby tooth that was sufficient reason to have a party.
Thanksgiving and Christmas were always super celebrations that included multiple generations of extended family. Likewise, the 4th and 24th of July where all the cousins could come and be crazy.
Then there were the birthday parties. Oh, the birthday parties. With crazy, impossible cakes.
Robin will be sorely missed.
Another of Robin’s concerns was that people have enough to eat. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Utah Food Bank.
A viewing will be held on Thursday February 25, 2021 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at Memorial Murray Mortuary 5850 South 900 East, Murray, Utah 84121. A funeral service will be held on Friday February 26, 2021 from 11:00am – 12:00pm at 1834 East Creek Rd (7995 South) Sandy, Utah 84093.
Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery 3115 East 7800 South Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.
