Robert Wursten

Robert Luther Wursten, (Bob) of Sandy, Utah passed away of natural causes on July 5, 2013. He was born in Logan, Utah on October 9, 1935 to Mattie Low and John L. Wursten. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1953. Bob served a LDS mission to the West Central States from 1955-1957. He married Joyce Hansen on September 10, 1959. Together they had six children, later divorced.
Bob studied business and graduated from Brigham Young University in 1960. He was employed by the LDS church as a data processor. 1967-1974. Bob was then hired by the State of Utah and worked as a computer programmer, using the COBOL system, writing programs for the Human Services Department and later in State Finances. 1974-1997.
Bob was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many positions. He was an active member of the Sons of the Utah Pioneers. He enjoyed travelling all over the world, including extensive travel throughout the United States. He loved nature, poetry and enjoyed listening to patriotic music and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
He married Frances Mace in July 1996. They lived in Sandy, Utah and spent winters at their home in Mesa, Arizona. They enjoyed square dancing and gardening. Together they served a LDS mission in South Carolina from 2000-2001.
He was preceded in death by his wife Frances, son Bryce Wursten and his parents. He is survived by his three daughters, Susan McNeely (Reed), Karen Peterson (Glen), Diane Knaust (Bill), and two sons, Kendall Wursten (Cindi), and Neil Wursten (Alisha), 16 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, sister Linda Keller, and brother Richard Wursten.
A viewing will be held Thursday evening, July 11, from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Mortuary, 5850 S. 900 E., Murray, Utah 84121 and again one hour prior to the funeral service. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 12th at 11:00 a.m. at the Sandy West Stake Center, 220 East 8680 South Sandy, Utah 84070. Interment at Wasatch Lawn.
