Robert Shelton

June 8, 1944 — July 17, 2016

Robert Harry Shelton, age 72 died on July 17, 2016 in Sandy, Utah, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.  He was born on June 8, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Harry and Caroline Mable Fullmer Shelton.   He married Elizabeth Blake on April 24, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints and he served a mission in Northern California.  He loved fly fishing; gardening; training horses and dogs; and ballroom dancing.
He taught at Jordan High for 17 years and finished his teaching career at Union Middle.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; children:  Jason Blake (Kimberley); Carol Lee; Christie Lynn Thompson (Joel); Emily Beth Nielsen (Greg); daughter-in-law, Shayla and 12 grandchildren.  Siblings:  David  (Nadine); Carolyn Beckstead (Loren); Donna Stewart; Mary Jane Lenzi (Gary) and Ruth Ann Saxon (Gary) and many beloved nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Robert and his parents.
Funeral Services:  Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Sandy Utah Granite South Stake 2126 Gyrfalcon Drive (10000 South), Sandy, Utah  11:00 a.m.  Viewing from 9:30—10:30.   Viewing Friday, July 22, 2016, 6:00-8:00 at Mountain View Memorial Estates 3115 East 7800 South.  Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
