Robert Norton

July 14, 1946 — April 27, 2014

Robert “Bob” Norton, age 67, passed away the morning of April 27, 2014 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was anxiously waiting for the weather to get warmer so he would feel better and could play golf.
Bob was born in Provo, Utah on July 14, 1946 to D.R. Norton and Naomi Gaisford Norton. He attended Provo High School. After graduation, knowing he was going to be drafted, he joined the US Army on December 29, 1966. He spent 3 years, 9 months, and 27 days in active service for his country, serving 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was so proud to serve in the 101st Airborne Division and U.S. Special Forces as a Green Beret. While in the Army, he received many honors for his courage and bravery, but felt fortunate he was never severely wounded as were so many of his brothers.
After having worked in the real estate business for many years, Bob decided to return to the University of Utah to receive his degree and then at the age of 37 decided to attend Law School. He received his law degree from Willamette Law School in Salem, Oregon. After Law school, Bob practiced law in Salt Lake City and was involved in many business ventures.
Bob is survived by his friend and ex-wife, Kathy Norton, his four sons, Dave, Rob, Mark, and Mike, a brother, DeRay Norton, and sister, Shari Francom.
Interment and graveside services for Bob will be at Camp Williams Military Cemetery on Friday, May 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with military honors.
Family and friends are welcome to attend.
