Robert Mcconkey

Robert Lee McConkey, 83, passed away July 18, 2014 with his family by his side after a long illness. He was born to Ellis and Ival in Grafton, West Virginia. He was an Army Sergeant serving from 1948-1958. He met his wife, Elfrieda Ursula Eschke, of 62 years in Germany. They met in Germany during the war when he yelled, “Hey Good Lookin’ What You Got Cookin!” He was calling out her name until the moment he passed. Robert retired from Harmon’s and then worked for his son-in-law at Precision Tech until the age of 82. Making many lifelong friends; anyone that met him, loved him. He loved fishing, yard work, bowling, Buicks, and spending time with family. Robert is survived by his wife, children Jim (Deanne), Dan (Sherry), Joan (Terry) Van Otten, and Bryon (Michelle); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by daughter Shirly. A viewing will be held Monday night from 6-8:00 PM at Redwood Memorial Mortuary (6500 S. Redwood Road). Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the mortuary at 10:00 AM with a viewing one hour prior. Interment to follow services. The family wishes to express appreciation to Hospice for Utah and the V.A. Hospital for all of their kind hospitality.
