Surrounded by his family Robert Luck Browning passed away of cancer at the age of 85. He left this earth life on Tuesday, October 24th at 8:10 a.m.
He was born in Blackfoot Idaho on October 28th, 1931 to Glenn Wood and Elenor Luck Browning.
He served honorably in the United States Army from 1952 to 1960. He fought in the Korean War and was honorable released from service as a corporal. He was proud to serve his country.
He married the love of his life LaRena in the Salt Lake Temple on October 11th, 1957. They raised five children, three boys, and two girls. There were many summers spent at the baseball field, where he coached and umpired. He loved all sports and one of his favorite pastimes was bowling.
He was educated as an electrician and welder, working at Chicago Bridge and Iron. He changed careers and became a baker, supporting his lovely wife in her bakery business, “The Cake Palace”.
He had a great love of music and enjoyed opera, classical and many show tunes. He often shared this passion with the entire neighborhood as he worked in his garage, where he could be found creating, repairing, or tinkering with anything from automobiles to pinewood derby cars.
He enjoyed playing pinochle, chess, and loved attending the movies, theatre and operas.
He was a faithful member of the LDS church and served in many callings. He completed two missions, one to Nauvoo Illinois, and South Salt Lake. He spent many hours working in the Baptistery of the Jordan River and Draper Utah Temples.
He was preceded in death by both parents and his elder brother Glenn Wood Browning Jr. (Bud) and one grandson, Benjamin Robert Browning.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years LaRena and his five children: Chad (LaNae) Browning of Riverton, Corrin (Howard) Reynolds of Draper, Cameron (Sandra) Browning of Riverton, Candace (David) Child of Vancouver Washington and Corby (Shannon) Browning of Riverton, his sister Gaye Hixon of SLC and half siblings Kim Browning and Julie (Richard) Kemp, with 19 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.
He will be missed.
A viewing will be held Friday October 27th from 6-8 p.m. at Lake Hills Memorial Mortuary, 10055 S. State Street, Sandy Utah 84070. The funeral will be held on Saturday October 28th at 11:00 a.m. in an LDS Chapel, 1450 E. Raddon Drive, Draper Utah 84020. Interment at Memorial Lake Hills Cemetery, 10055 S.
