Robert Lee Littlewood

Bob age 91, returned to His Father in Heaven & the arms of his eternal companion, Geri on October 6, 2021. He was surrounded by the constant love & care of his family at his son’s home in Herriman.  Bob was born on September 11, 1930 in SLC, Utah to Ethel Nichols & Leo Littlewood.  He was taught to value family & to honor your parents. Bob was a devoted son & was so good to his parents.
Bob graduated from West High School & attended the University of Utah. He served a 2-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Southern States Mission. He not only lived the gospel; he loved & understood the gospel & he enjoyed teaching it to others. Bob met the love of his life, Geraldine Nish, on a blind date & on that night their great love story began. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 3, 1953, they were married just shy of 61 years.  They spent their honeymoon at the LDS General Conference.  They raised their 4 children in Rose Park.
Bob retired from the United States Post Office after a 30-year career. Even after he retired, he worked many odd jobs, including driving a bus for the prison system. He worked tirelessly through the years to provide for his family. He always had to be doing something. He taught his children the importance of a strong work ethic & that being honest & having integrity is worth more than any amount of wealth. Once Geri retired, they would spend their winters in Quartzsite, AZ & St. George, UT where they made many lifelong friends. Dad was extremely talented with wood work & he made many priceless heirlooms for his family. He enjoyed hunting & skiing with his sons, Bob shared a very special bond with his boys.   He was an avid reader & he collected coins & stamps. It is hard to talk about our dad without talking about our mom. They were inseparable. They enjoyed traveling the world together, hosting family parties & making chocolates. Our family breakfasts at Storm Mountain will never be the same.  He helped all of us kids with our home improvements & no matter how tired he was or how much pain he was in he never complained. He was just happy to spend time with us & teach us all he knew. He was a modest man & didn’t like praise. He would often say after finishing a task, “A blind man would be happy to see it!”  We all have fond memories of Saturday nights with Dad & the delicious homemade popcorn he loved to make for us to eat while watching sporting events. The last few years he had enjoyed doing puzzles. Bobs greatest joy was his family.  He was always so supportive attending all the kids and grandkids extracurricular activities.  He is survived by his 2 sons, Brent (Diana) and Kent (Eyvonne); 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren & extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife Geri & his two daughters Teri Lee Mitchell & Debra Wilcox.
We are so grateful for our father; he has given us an abundance of memories that we will always cherish. He was a man of few words but when he did speak everyone listened to what he had to say. He was an incredible role model & everyone that knew him respected him. His humility, integrity, kindness, compassion, love of his family and faith will forever inspire us to be more like him.  His legacy will live on in our stories & memories of him. What a blessing it has been to call him our Father. Dad has ached for his dear Geri for over 7 years. Now they have been reunited, what a joyous reunion it must have been.
Friends & family may call Thursday, October 14th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Road. Funeral services will be Friday October 15th, at 10:00 am at Memorial Redwood Mortuary & Cemetery with interment to follow in the cemetery.
