Robert Knierim

December 5, 1937 — October 13, 2015

Ronald Stuart Knierim, age 77, died on October 13, 2015 in his home in Taylorsville, UT. He had been dealing with health related issues at the time of his passing. He passed peacefully with his beloved son-in-law at his side.
He was born on December 5, 1937, in Wheeling, West Virginia to Albert Carl Knierim and Thelma Virginia Smith Knierim. He married Carole Jane Usher on February 24, 1962 in Lawton, Oklahoma. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Los Angeles, California Temple on February 25, 1964. Dad’s hobbies included many of the arts. He loved all things classical and some of his favorites were Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach. Mom always said, “Anything he tried, he was immediately great at.” He loved to oil paint, do stained glass, sew, do needlepoint and play the piano. In his youth, he performed in Folk Dancing, and forever kept a love of the music and dance. He also held a deep appreciation for his motherland, Germany. He had the opportunity to visit there twice, and was grateful for those experiences.
He always had a testimony of his Savior. He grew up Episcopalian, and loved his association with them. He was well known in his circles as the organ player. He converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints in 1963. He held many church callings, and among them were Bishop, Stake Executive Secretary and Young Single Adult Advisor, but his favorite and longest lasting was Ward Choir Director, which he served as for 11 years. He absolutely adored music.
He is survived by his brother, Lynn (Judy) Knierim, Fallbrook, CA; sons Paul (Carolyn) Knierim, Alexandria, VA; Sean (Leslie) Knierim, San Diego, CA; Jeff (Deidra) Knierim, Payson, Arizona; Julie (Bill) Wareham, Salt Lake City, UT; Jared (Allison) Knierim, Salt Lake City, UT; 6 granddaughters, 5 grandsons; 1 great-granddaughter, 1 great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Carole, as well as by his father and his mother.
