Robert Kenneth Mugleston

October 10, 1935 — April 11, 2016

“Muggs”
1935 – 2016
Our beloved husband, father, brother, grandpa, great grandpa, cousin, uncle and friend “MUGGS” passed away April 11, 2016 at his home from complications of a stroke he suffered September 2015. He was born October 10, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Kenneth Goddard Mugleston and Alice V. Pappa Mugleston. Older brother to sister Sandra (Sandy) and brother Gary, who loved him very much and always looked up to him as their hero.
Muggs graduated from South High School 1953 and later worked for Utah Power & Light Company for many years as a master electrician and engineer. He later traveled with his family performing around the United States and several foreign countries as the “Mugleston Family Band” – later called “The Muggs”- a very talented and entertaining group that brought great joy to all who had the opportunity to see them and hear their music. Through their music they left a spiritual message of love.
Muggs met Jessie M. Caperon, a beautiful cheerleader at South High, who won his heart and became the great love of his life. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple June 25, 1954. Muggs and Jessie were blessed with six wonderful and talented children that filled their life with much joy and happiness. Robert Kenneth II, Desiree, Blaine, Troy, Lance, Brad.
Baseball was a big part of his life – he played on may teams from little league to South High Cubs to Utah Power & Light teams – he was a home run hitter and all-star. His sweet Jessie was always in the stands cheering him on to victory.
Muggs loved the mountains – hunting deer in the snow and rock hunting in the summer. With his many talents he cut the rocks and made some beautiful jewelry, also some interesting pieces from silver. He loved making stain glass windows and in his later years stain glass night lights. He had a gift of creating something from nothing to a beautiful piece of art. He was a “Jack of all trades and Master of all.” Muggs was a hard worker and taught his children to enjoy working – he always said “There are lifters and leaners and no inbetweeners.” Jessie and his children and grandchildren were the “Light of his life.” He cherished his family and many dear friends.
Muggs was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Jessie enjoyed serving as “Inner City Missionaries” for several years. Doing genealogy work and going to the temple often to do work for his family was very important and enjoyable for him.
Muggs is survived by his beloved wife Jessie, children: Bob (Denise) Mugleston, Desiree M Jaramillo, Blaine (Jana) Mugleston, Troy (Ron) Mugleston, Lance (Kristina) Mugleston, Brad Mugleston and Kama Wells, sister Sandra (Sandy) Mugleston Meadows, and many beloved relatives and friends. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary, oldest grandson Bobby, grandson Chase, mother-in-law Thelma “GG” Caperon, father-in-law Robert Caperon, brother-in-laws Jack and Bobby Caperon, son-in-law Richard Jaramillo, brother-in-law Pete Meadows and nephew Jeff Meadows.
