Robert passed away suddenly but peacefully on July 25, 2017 surrounded by his family after a long battle with dementia. He was born on August 27, 1934 to George August Gardner and May Bell Stones in Pasadena, California.
He proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the Seabees and was deployed to the Philippines during the Korean War. Honorably discharged in 1955.
On June 30, 1969, he married the love of his life, Evoline Gardner, and two families merged. He worked for The Department of Defense for many years as a Contract Administrator, retired, then a few years as Sergeant at Arms for the Utah State Legislature. A very handy man, could do most anything, mechanic, electrician, landscaping, plumbing, carpentry, and remodeling. He loved the outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. If they weren’t home the trailer was gone and they were, too.
He is preceded in death by his parents; George August Gardner and May Bell Stones, daughter; Connie Lee Stewart, siblings; Betty, Barbara, Lester and Jack.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years; Evoline Gardner, children; Rob Gardner, Gary (Roxann) Trimble, Dave (Paula) Trimble, Sherry (John) Cardin, Allyson (Nick) Benzon, Patricia (David) Smith, countless nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and longtime friends.
He will forever be remembered for his strong will, wit and humor, and will be dearly missed by so many people.
