Robert ‘Bob’ Flinn, born on April 1, 1937, in Salt Lake City, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of resilience, passion, and adventure. Raised in East Millcreek, Bob developed an early love for the outdoors that stayed with him throughout his life. A dedicated family man, he married Reinita in 1961 and together they built a life defined by hard work and perseverance.
Bob’s career spanned diverse ventures—from learning the grocery business at Albertsons to co-owning his own grocery store, Farmers Foods, to establishing Flinn Automotive, a successful auto repair business in South Salt Lake. His entrepreneurial spirit was matched by his passion for off-road racing, where he not only competed but also inspired others, earning accolades such as the 1989 Sportsman of the Year award.
Beyond business, Bob was committed to family and his love of nature. He delighted in sharing his passion for hiking, fishing, and off-road adventures with his children and eight grandchildren, instilling in them the values of perseverance and the joy of exploration. He spent 64 years building a life with Reinita and enjoyed his retirement golfing and camping with her on their many annual trips.
Bob’s life was marked by the belief that “perseverance pays off,” and continues to inspire all who knew him.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Reinita; his sister Peggy (Chad) Baldwin: his brother Terry Flinn; his children, Michael Flinn (Heidi) and Rachel Craig (Barrett); and his grandchildren, Kathryn, Abigail, Kadin, Bailee, Grace, and Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents Tom and Randa, his son Matthew, granddaughter Alexis, and grandson Bradford.
Bob will be deeply missed.
