Robert Elden Taylor

May 30, 1932 — April 21, 2019

Bob died peacefully at home on Easter evening, April 21, 2019.  He was born to Joseph Arthur Taylor and Caroline Housley in St. Anthony, Idaho, May 30,1932. He was the youngest of ten children and had a wonderful childhood with many friends.  After graduating from high school, he joined the National Guard and was drafted into the U.S. Army. He spent sixteen months in Korea.  On his return, he met and married Marcene Fielding on May 4, 1956 in Shelley, Idaho.
In the fall of 1956, the newlyweds moved to Salt Lake City where Bob enrolled at the University of Utah. He graduated in 1962.  He used his Mechanical Engineering degree to start Climate Control, Inc. with Ed Hill in 1961.  It grew into a successful heating and air conditioning business, which later changed to CCI Mechanical, Inc. After his partner died in 1976, he became president of the company until he retired in 1990. As a member of both the national and Utah Sheet Metal Associations, he served on several committees.  Bob served as president of SMACNA in 1996. Along with a successful business, Bob helped open Brighton Bank in 1973 as a member of the Board of Directors.
Bob served faithfully for many years as a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, including a mission with his wife in San Diego, CA, 1998-1999. He loved scouting and the outdoors.  He participated in many campouts, river runs and mountain biking with the scouts. Bob loved working with the youth in his ward.  He was a GSL Council member in 1980 and received his Silver Beaver award in 1997.  One of his favorite memories was serving as a host at Temple Square in 1980.
Bob loved adventures and traveling with his family.  He enjoyed fishing in Alaska, the Canyonlands, his cabin in Island Park, Idaho, and Lake Powell.  He was always on the go and loved to include any of his boys or grandkids.  His joy was contagious, and life was his playground.  He taught his family the value of hard work, being on time, and how to love life.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marcene, and his children: Brad (Cathryn) Taylor, Kathee Brimley, Caroline (Cody) Jackson, Joe (Marie) Taylor, David (Melissa) Hancock-Taylor, Mark (Christie) Taylor.  He has 21 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his nine siblings, and his two children, Leslie Robert and LeAnn States.
