Robert Braithwaite

July 23, 1931 — September 8, 2014

Our loving husband, father, grandfather, superhero, bestest dad and jack-of-all-trades, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2014 surrounded by his family. He was 83. Bob was born July 23, 1931 in Salt Lake City, the oldest child of Lawrence and Neva Butcher Braithwaite. He married Phoebe Louise Graves on October 28, 1949; later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple on June 9, 1967. Bob and Louise made their home in Kearns, where they raised 6 children. There really was not anything Bob couldn’t do – from carpentry to auto repair and everything in between. He put his best into every job he did. He retired from Kennecott after 30 plus years of service and was a dedicated floral delivery man for his wife’s flower shop for 24 years. Bob spent much of his time gardening, hunting, camping and fishing. He shared his love of the outdoors with his kids and grandkids and they will always cherish the time spent with him and being together on the family property in Elberta, Utah. Bob was a great story teller. He often shared stories from his youth and about his life experiences. He had a contagious smile and an infectious laugh. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. A great void will be felt, but his memory and his love will live in our hearts until we meet again. Survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Louise; children, Vickie Holt, Susan Averett, Pam (Jay) Stephens, Doug (JoAnn); 26 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; 3 brothers; 6 sisters, and many extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his sons, Steve and Clint and 5 siblings. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 12th, 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns 6th Ward, 4260 W. 5215 So. A viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the church and one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment, Redwood Memorial Cemetery.
