Robert “Bobby J” James Gruver

“Bobby J”, 85, passed away on the evening of December 1st surrounded by family. Bob was born on May 12th 1934 to Charles Sylvanus Gruver and Margaret Lane, in Marin, California. Bob became an Orphan at the age of 4 and was sent to live at St. Vincent’s Orphanage in Marin County California with his brother Charles. At the age of 17, Bob enlisted in the Navy and served on the USS Zelima from 1951 – 1954. After his time spent in the Navy, he met the love of his life Doris Ann Evans. They were Married on Dec. 14th 1956. Bob and Dori were blessed with 3 children.
In Dec of 1972, They moved to Kearns, Utah where he lived the remainder of his life. Bob worked for Albertsons at their warehouse in North Salt Lake for 32 years. He’s was known for his kind heart, quick wit, thinking outside the box and infectious laugh. He is survived in death by his wife, Dori, children, Chuck (Curtis), Ginny (Bruce) and Jim (Katrenia), 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held on Dec 14 @ 3:00 pm. The address is 143 W. (560 N) Girard Ave, Salt Lake City, 84103.
