A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Rita died peacefully at home surrounded by members of her family on Monday, January 18, 2016. She was a resident of Holiday, UT and Mesa, AZ. The cause of death was Alzheimer’s disease. Born and raised in Rawlins, WY, she graduated from Rawlins High School in 1956 before attending St. Mary’s of the Wasatch College in Salt Lake City, where she eventually took up residence. A long-time employee of the Sperry Rand Corporation, later UNISIS, she retired several years ago, after 34 years of service. She is survived by her devoted husband of 32 years, Dean Morgan; her children Denise Hutcheon and Michelle Berrett-Muir of Salt Lake City and David Hutcheon of Los Angeles, CA; her stepchildren Tim, Larry, Jeff and Mike Morgan of Salt Lake, and Lisa Morgan Osborne, of Kansas City, MO; her sister Sally Johnson of Saratoga, CA, and brothers Robert Callely of New York City and Donald Callely of Los Angeles, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Never able to travel much in her early life, once she married Dean, she was deeply affected by his wanderlust and together they roamed the country far and wide visiting friends and family, while touring through scores of its towns and cities and exploring many of its natural wonders. Also, while long resistant to the idea of playing golf, husband Dean finally coaxed her onto the greens one day and from that moment on, she never stopped playing the game—often wanting to do it seven days a week, when circumstances allowed. The game sent them to golf courses all over the country plus Canada, the Caribbean and Hawaii.
