Richard Alton Thompson
“Dick”
A man of a gentle and good-natured disposition passed away February 11, 2015 of congestive heart failure. Dick was born March 12, 1935 to William A. and Della Keeler Thompson in Salt Lake City, Utah. He married Marilynn K. Hammes in 1976. He spent most of his life in Utah and worked the majority of his years for several auto dealerships here in the Salt Lake valley. He made many, many friends throughout his years. He was a lover of old cars, new cars and motorsports of any kind. He did all his own auto-body, fender and paint for all of his restored vehicles – and there were many over the years.
He is survived by his wife and sweetheart, Marilynn; four children, Cheryl (Douglas) Nielsen, Lauri (Matt) Higgins, Gerald (Colleen) Thompson and Tiana Gibbens; sister, Jean (Ron) Cook; three step-children, Tami Barnes, Mark Tollackson and Alan Tollackson; grandchildren, Ryan, Lance, Brandon, Brady, Natasha, David, Nicolle, Amy, Jamie and Jett and great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister and a brother, William Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Redwood Memorial, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, UT. Viewings will be held from 6-8:00 pm on Monday and one hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday. Interment to follow.
