Richard Ray Hallett, 94, passed away on December 24, 2024, in Kearns, Utah. He was born on December 14, 1930, in Midvale, Utah to Loren Albert Hallett and Thelma Johnson.

 On October 17, 1952, he married the love of his life, Donell Slater. 

Richard had a passion for the outdoors and spent much of his time fishing, sink fly fishing, and hunting. He was a skilled bullet reloader and a talented mechanic who could repair any vehicle, always offering his help free of charge. Richard also enjoyed whittling and crafting intricate chains and whistles by hand. He and his close friend, Lamar Powell, were known for catching the largest rainbow trout on the lower Provo River. Additionally, he loved to play cards, mainly Poker. He was an avid poker player, winning most of the hands he played. 

A proud veteran, Richard served his country as a Rifle Marksman in the Korean War and earned The Purple Heart Medal and the United Nations Medal.

He is survived by son Richard Kim Hallett, wife Vickie, their four children, 20 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; son Kelly's three kids and five grandkids; daughter Connie Raye Hallett and her child and two grandchildren; Colleen Renae Gibson, husband Steve, their four children and four grandchildren; and his son Don Loren Hallett. 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Donell Slater; son, Kelly Kaye Hallett; grandson Jeremy of son Richard Kim Hallett; four brothers; two sisters; and his parents. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Friends and family are invited to attend a viewing prior to the service from 9:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at Memorial Redwood Cemetery, at the same address.
