Richard Ove Johansson, 81, passed away peacefully at home with family on the afternoon of October 22, 2017. Richard was born September 1, 1936 to Evert Gervin and Anna Erickson Johansson in Stockholm, Sweden. His family (parents & four sons) immigrated with other Saints to the United States in 1949. Richard served in the U.S. Army in the time of the Korean War. He graduated from South High where he found passion and talent in math and science. He then graduated from Utah State in Forestry and Agriculture with a minor in Chemistry. Richard was an avid snow skier even in youth as he skied to school when he was young. He was also a mountaineer and ski instructor in Fort Hill, Colorado.
He was in charge of the Targhee National Forest for 10 years, and then worked for Western and Delta Airlines for 32 years.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Linda Johansson, devoted children, Krysti (Leroy) Kollman, Cyndi (Curtis) Tadehara, Wendi (Mick) Olson, Kurt Johansson, Wendy (Jeff) Bailey, Marla (Jay) Campbell, Kerrie (Bryan) Swapp. Proceeded in death by his Son Shane Johansson, Grandson Tyler and Great Granddaughter Ellie, Parents and brother Sune
His legacy included 26 Grandchildren 27 Great Grandchildren.
Richard is also survived by his brothers Olof and Leif Johansson.
We will miss Richard’s quick wit, his passion for football games, his sense of humor, his loving nature, and his singing.
Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Thursday, October 26 at the Memorial Mt. View Mortuary and Cemetery, 3115 East Bengal Blvd. (7800 S.) A viewing will be held one hour prior to the graveside service.Service Information
