Richard Leroy “Dick” Pack

November 29, 1933 — January 28, 2020

Richard LeRoy “Dick” Pack, 86, was born on November 29, 1933 in Fillmore, UT to Fredrick Alonzo Pack and Azalea Burgon.  He passed away on a beautiful winter day, Tuesday, January 28, 2020 surrounded by those he loved the most.
Dick graduated from Jordan High School in 1952.  Immediately following graduation Dick enlisted in the Army and served his country during the Korean War. Dick married his sweetheart, Ellie Gunn on September 20, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple.  Dick worked for Daynes Music where he developed a passion for Home Audio.  The highlight of his career was spent at Broadway Music in downtown Salt Lake City.  He had a very successful career in home and auto audio sales and installation.
Dick had a passion for classic cars.  He and Ellie purchased a 1962 Ford Thunderbird early in their marriage.  He loved red convertibles!
Dick was very creative.  He had a knack for restoring wood furniture.  Throughout his life he created many beautiful oil paintings.  He spent quality time with his grandchildren teaching them the fine art of painting.  He was a perfectionist.  His beautiful creations are proof of that.
In 1976 Dick designed and built a fourplex in Sugarhouse.  He cared for and maintained that building and it reflected the pride he had in it.
Dick loved spending time with his family.  When his boys were young, he enjoyed evenings at Deseret Gym playing basketball, days at Scofield Reservoir fishing and Summer days at local classic car shows.
Dick had a fantastic sense of humor.  His grandkids looked forward to hearing the unique nick names or songs he would personalize for each of them.  He loved to tell a good story or listen to one.  He always reacted just as we hoped he would, at all the appropriate times.
Throughout his life he loved all their many family dogs, not the least of which is Seumas, a beautiful Sheltie who became Dick’s caregiver.  He alerted Ellie on multiple occasions when Dick needed help. There was a love between those two that is unmatched.
Dick is so loved by all his family and friends.  He will surely be missed.
Dick is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Ellie Gunn Pack, his son Richard (Jennifer Urry) and their children, Anna Michelle, Matthew, Ryan and Melissa; his son Brandon (Tammy Black) and their children, Katie, Bryton, Emiko and Johnny; his sister Jeneanne (Robert) Safran, and his brother Rick (Jan) Pack.  He is preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Laurie, brother Don (Lou) Pack, Bob (Shelly) Pack, and brother David Pack.
