Richard Lamar Christensen

October 29, 1969 — July 24, 2018

Richard LaMar Christensen passed away unexpectedly on 7/24/2018. Born October 29, 1969 in Murray UT to Ricky LaMar Christensen and Bonne Elaine Vanamen, the oldest of 4 children. As a young boy Richard grew up in Kearns Utah. His family later moved to Cache Valley Utah where his love of being a country boy began when he learned to become a Bronco Bull rider. Richard spent the majority of his life in the Salt Lake County area, which is where he started and raised a family of his own.
Richard Began dating Sherri Forsyth in 1989, eventually falling in love with not just her, but also her 2 children: Shawn and Amy. Together they had 2 more children: Andrew and Spencer making their little family complete. Richard and Sherri were married on 3/17/2002 and later divorced, but always remained close friends knowing they could lean on each other.
Richard enjoyed spending time with his family whether it was camping, having BBQ’s, working on cars or just hanging out, turning any open space into a dance floor or to sing karaoke. His favorite holidays were July 4th and July 24th. He would buy a truck full of fireworks to put on the biggest show on the block. He loved riding his motorcycle, no matter what time of day or night, hot or cold. His heart was bigger than life itself and he was always willing to drop what he was doing to help someone in need. He would give the shirt off his back, or the last dollar in his pocket without hesitation.
Richard worked for CMT Engineering for the last 9 years as a road mix design engineer, working alongside several family members including his “little buddy” and oldest son Andrew. Richard was a hard-working man and did what it took to provide for his family. Thank you CMT for believing in Richard and giving him the opportunity.
Richard was an amazing son, grandson, dad, brother, nephew, cousin, grandpa and friend. We will never forget how he hugged you so hard you couldn’t breathe, or the sound of his voice, singing the same verse of the same song, over and over sometimes stopping to say with a little chuckle; “second verse, same as the first”, he knew it drove us crazy and he loved every minute of it. If he wasn’t singing, he was whistling, his love of music was obvious to anyone who knew him.
His passing will leave a hole in our hearts that will never be filled and our lives will never be the same without him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
“Everything happens for a reason, good or bad. Fly high Pops-till we meet again. Love you.”
Survived by: Parents: Rick (Darlene) Christensen, Elaine Vanamen. Sons: Andrew (Diana) Christensen, Spencer Christensen, Shawn (Melissa) Forsyth, and daughter Amy Forsyth. Granddaughter’s: Taya Kenner and Ellie Forsyth and grandson, -Lawrence Forsyth.
