Richard Garber

August 9, 1941 — January 1, 2019

Richard Arthur Garber passed away January 1, 2019 at his home in the arms of his loving wife.
Richard was born on August 9, 1941 to Arthur Bliss Garber and Pearl Ona Holseybrook Garber in Grand Junction, Colorado.
He married his soulmate, Linda Lee Andrews on April 25, 1970. Together they had two children that were his pride and joy. Richard was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked at the Daily Sentiall in Grand Junction as a type setter and then after his move to Salt Lake City he worked for the News Paper Agency. He later retired from the University of Utah, where he worked in their mailroom.
Richard enjoyed fishing and camping (if only for one day, because he needed to shower). He enjoyed gardening and keeping his yard looking immaculate. He took great pride in this.
Richard loved his country and took such pride that his grandson had joined the Navy, something he had wanted to do himself. He was very proud of him for that.
He is survived by his loving wife, children; Suzanne (Greg) Madsen and Joe Garber, 10 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, his sister; Faye Shepherd, brothers in law; Jim and John Andrews and Kent Overson, sisters in law; Chris Zaloanick and Mary Overson, many nieces and nephews, and many lifelong friends and extended family.
He is preceded in death by his sisters; Marilyn Felt and Shirley Wise, brothers in law; Wayne Felt, Merrill Andrews, and Brent Overson, and his niece; Jackie Dick.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary (3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Heights, UT). A viewing will be held two-hours prior.
