Richard Duane Anderson

Richard Duane Anderson age 88 passed away on June 30th 2021, in Salt Lake City Utah in his home. He was born July 9th 1932, in Murray Utah to Lewis Harold and Valeta Anderson.

Richard graduated from Jordan high school in 1951, where he studied opera, played football and basketball and his nickname was Andy. Later in 1951 he married Peggy, of 69 years, and had 3 boys and 2 girls. He entered the Navy in 1956 for one year with an honorable discharge. He then entered the Navy Reserves until March of 1962. He worked at Kennecott Copper Mine for 31 years as a heavy equipment operator. He worked for Utah Food and Catering for many years. He was a man of many talents and loved tinkering around. He could take things apart in no time, but putting it back together was another story. He loved to travel with the love of his life Peggy. He visited the following countries: Canada, Mexico, China, New Zealand,  and his favorite place, we think, Australia because he’d always get into the car and say ” To Sydney Australia”. He’s been to every state west of the Mississippi including Hawaii and Alaska. He made caps for cancer patients and was a long-time Behive Roamer.

 He is survived by his brother Norman and daughter Bonnie, 15 grandkids, 24 great grandkids, and one great great grandchild.

 A viewing will be held on July 6th from 6 to 8:00 p.m., a second viewing will be held Wednesday July 7th from 1 to 2:00 p.m. at Memorial Mountain View mortuary, a funeral service will be held Wednesday July 7th from 2 to 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Mountain View.  3115 East 7800 South cottonwood Cottonwood Heights Utah.
