Richard “Dick” Hallman

April 29, 2020 — July 14, 1951

Dick passed away on April 29, 2020, of natural causes, and with his beloved daughter at his side.
He was born in Salt Lake City on July 14, 1951 to Jerry and Gloria Hallman, the middle child of three kids. Dick was the wild child of the family – adding a liveliness and enthusiasm to all of their family events and activities.
He was a Kearns High School, class of 1969 graduate where he was active on the swim team. He soon developed a love for drag racing and working on his Mach 1. Dick had many talents and he put them to use as a bartender, glass worker and cement worker, as well as roles at the Tooele Army Depo. His true passion, though, was as a mechanic at Arnold Machinery Co and AG Body Company.
Dick loved the outdoors and spent many weekends hunting and fishing. NASCAR was another love for him, cheering on his favorite drivers with family and friends were treasured memories. He also enjoyed watching the drag races, funny cars and jet cars at Rocky Mountain Raceway.
Dick’s love for concerts and music was passed along to his family, including his two much-loved grandsons, Trusten and Westen — whose football and school accomplishments were a great source of pride to Dick.
He was kind and compassionate, especially toward animals, as he cared for multiple dogs and even the neighborhood stray cats, with an extra soft spot for one he named Zero.
Dick’s unconditional love for his family and his great, booming voice and contagious laugh will be missed by many. His hugs were legendary.
He is survived by his children Dan (Stephanie) Hallman of Pocatello, Idaho, Tiffany (Wyatt) Martinez and their sons Trusten and Westen, of West Jordan, UT; his siblings Dawn (John) Barnard, of Taylorsville, UT; James Hallman of West Jordan, UT; special uncle Tony Macklyn, Bountiful, UT; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents and aunt Mary Macklyn.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 11 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 7405 S Redwood Rd., Kearns, UT, 84084.
