Richard (Dick) Dallas North

October 7, 1938 — May 19, 2019

Richard (Dick) Dallas North, was born to Dallas Warren and Mary Smith North on October 7, 1938. He passed away May 19, 2019 due to heart failure. He left this world at home surrounded by his loved ones.
Dick served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Southern States Mission from 1959-1961. Following his mission, he joined the US Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on Jan. 20, 1967 with the rank of Staff Sargent. He married DeLynn (Dee) Killian in the Idaho Falls Temple on April 17, 1964. Dick worked for the JC Penney Co for 17 years as a department manager, assistant store manager, and store manager in Midvale, Utah, Great Falls Montana; Omaha, Nebraska; Shenandoah, Iowa; and Osawatomie Kansas. While living in Kansas, he worked as a Deputy Sherriff.  Years later the family moved back to Salt Lake City, UT where he served as a Salt Lake County Constable. He was always very proud of the years he worked in law enforcement. He worked as a store manager for Deseret Industries and in their wood shop for 26 years.
Dick had a firm belief in the gospel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in several different callings including Branch President twice and 10 years as Stake Executive Secretary. He served 3 years as a part time missionary with his wife, Dee, in the LDS Conference Center. Dick was extremely talented with cement work, construction and wood working. He could make beautiful furniture and his home and yard were a reflection of his many talents. He enjoyed camping, hunting, and 4 wheeling. He was especially fond of meeting new people and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He always had a knack for sharing personal stories and experiences. He loved people and had a special place in his heart for handicapped individuals and those with special needs. He had a unique gift for remembering people and relationships he developed from the many places he lived and stayed in touch with many people.
Dick dearly loved his sweetheart, Dee, and they recently celebrated 55 years of marriage. He loved his 6 children Kristy Lynn Cannon (Mike), Lori Kay Newbold, Richard Scott North (Lori Paige), Misty Dawn Hardy (Dustin), Wayne Dallas North, Nicole Joy Lee (Mike), 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Dick was a faithful servant of the Lord. He’s loved by all who knew him and he will be missed dearly.
The family would like to thank Quality Hospice staff. Especially Sally Brush and Stacy Frampton from IMC Heart Clinic for their compassionate care.
