Richard Defa

Richard Defa passed away on January 20, 2025, surrounded by those who loved him. 

Richard was born to Alfonzo and Viola Defa on June 29, 1936, in Hanna Utah. He married the love of his life on September 6, 1958, and together they raised three children. Richard ran the Defa dude ranch with his family and loved spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed trips to Wendover and spending time with his friends at Club 48. 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gayle, children Terry (Kay), Scott (Peggi), Corey (Shelly), and Richard (Denyse), grandchildren; Landon, Preston, Marshall, Chase, Luke, and Zandy, great-grandchildren; Savanah and Esmeralda. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim, Sharon, Judy, and brother-in-law Doug.

Richard is preceded in passing by his parents, brother Gino, brother-in-law Jay, sister-in-law Marianne, and daughter-in-law Laura. 

A viewing and gathering of friends and family will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. A burial will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Cemetery.
