Richard Dale Hoggan

September 5, 1941 — September 30, 2019

Our loving father, grandfather passed away September 30, 2019 in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. Richard was born September 5th, 1941 in Pocatello, Idaho to George Call and Pearl Larson Hoggan. He went to Pocky High where he played Football and Basketball and loved racing cars. Richard served a Stake Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Richard served in the United States Air Force where he was stationed in Moses Lake, Washington during the Vietnam War. Richard worked on planes that went into battle. He made many friends and lost some as well.
He married Laurel Odekirk January 25, 1961 and together they had 5 children, Lau-Rel, Dale, Janice, Candie, and Andrew before divorcing in 1974. Richard was a single father until he met his sweet wife Sandra Lee Black, who had 2 children of her own, David and Monique. Richard and Sandra were married on August 9th 1977 and were then blessed with Heather, Richard and Christopher. Richard loved being a father to his 10 children, their spouses, his 24 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren (with 2 more on the way). Richard loved spending time with his family and was able to spend his last weekend surrounded by them out in the wild on a family camp out.
Richard continued to participate in sports though out his life and shared that joy with his children. Richard loved working on anything that ran and could fix just about anything. He liked to build things as well, from finishing the basement and remodeling the kitchen to Pinewood Derby cars and making his beloved RC model airplanes. Richard loved the out of doors and nature. He liked to hunt and fish and taught this to his children. He enjoyed road trips where he could explore new places and see where a dirt road would take you. Yellowstone and Glacier National Park were some of his favorite places to go. Richard was a very kind and loving man and would help anyone in need. He helped many people with their cars and homes and will be greatly missed. Richard enjoyed his many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. His ward and stake will miss his help with all of their media questions and needs.
Richard is survived by his wife Sandra Lee Hoggan, his children Lau-Rel Hoggan, Dale Hoggan, Janice Jensen, Candie (Shane) Conrad, Andrew (Heidi) Hoggan, David (Hope) Black, Monique {deceased} (Wade) Buckley), Heather (Dave) Oliphant, Richard (Stephanie) Hoggan, Christopher (Talysha) Hoggan.
