Richard Beaver Olsen

January 18, 1933 — April 2, 2020

Our precious daddy, Richard Beaver Olsen, returned home to his Father in Heaven on the morning of April 2, 2020 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was born on January 18, 1933 to Gerald Fred Olsen and Constance Edith Stagg Olsen in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was raised on the avenues of Salt Lake City and he loved the city, the state, the mountains and all that life in Utah offered. He attended East High School and University of Utah.
He served in the United States Air Force for four years. While he was stationed in Chandler, Arizona learning aircraft repair, he met the love of his life and his eternal companion, Milene Lines. She waited for him while he went to Korea and when he returned home, they were married in the Mesa, Arizona temple. He finished his service at Oxnard Air Force Base in California.
Richard was a successful businessman. He and his father owned Olsen Heating and Air Conditioning which became A-One Engineering and Manufacturing where he employed many family members. He was very proud to have installed the heating and air conditioning systems to hundreds of LDS chapels and buildings.
He helped to build Zion with the labor of his hands and the love of his heart.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many capacities including ward clerk, financial clerk, ward and stake mission leader, and ordinance worker at the Jordan River temple.
Richard loved to help on the family cattle ranch in Arizona. It was his childhood dream to be a cowboy so naturally-he married a real-life cowgirl! With her training, he became quite a great cowboy and ranch hand!
He loved to travel, hunt, ride horses, water ski, camp, and spend time with his family. This always included his parents, his sister and his nieces and nephews. He loved to build things and was always happiest when he had a project to work on.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife Milene and his children Brent Olsen (Ann), Nonie Harmon (Marlin), Heidi Olsen-Hughey, Gerald Wade Olsen (Laura), and Lena Johnson (Ben), along with his twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-three, soon to be twenty-six, great-grandchildren. In addition, Richard will be fondly remembered by his cherished sister Constance “Connie” Wootton and his beloved brother in law, Thomas Wray Lines (Gwen), as well as many deeply loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Connie Olsen, his in-laws, Milo and Lena Lines, His Brothers and Sisters-in-law Richard and Ona Dell Lines, John Wayne and Karen Lines, and Wessley C. Wootton, His nephew Bret Leigh Biehler, his daughter-in-law Jodi Spenst Olsen and his Grandsons Robert Charles Olsen, Cannon Wade Olsen and his granddaughter Constance Grace Johnson.
Richard was a disciple of Christ and loved everyone! His home was a shelter and refuge to those in need of love and he knew no enemies. He leaves us all with a great example to follow. Richard had many treasured friends that he loved dearly. Some went before and some stay behind, but all were part of the beautiful story of a life well lived.
There will be a grave side service attended by his wife and children on Monday at Mountain View Mortuary and Cemetery, in accordance with the stay at home order of the governor. A celebration service will be held in August or when the Covid-19 pandemic has passed.
“Well done, thou good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”.
