Richard Allen Lutes

Richard Allen Lutes passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 27, 2021 surrounded by his family. The son of Walter Franklin and Barbara Jean Lutes, he was born on June 22, 1951 in San Diego, California. He is survived by his wife, Verna Lutes, 9 children, 12 step-children, 11 grandchildren, 20 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren and he loved them all. His former spouses are Linda Watts, Patty Lutes, and Shelly Lutes. A special part of Rick’s life was when the family took on the responsibility of caring for Michelle, a very special spirit sent to earth in a broken body. So far, Rick has helped to prepare 4 sons to serve ecclesiastical missions and one to serve in the military. As an outdoorsman, fierce patriot, and passionate disciple of Christ his continued influence will never ebb. His life was filled with love, service, and most importantly, his family. He was often heard to brag about his family – they are his greatest source of pride. Rick loved puns and was the master of Dad Jokes. Special thanks to Utah Valley Hospital staff and Saratoga Springs 10th Ward for their kind and loving service.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday July 1, 2021 at 11:00am with a viewing taking place one hour prior at Memorial Mountain View Mortuary 3115 East 7800 South, Cottonwood Height, Utah 84121. Interment will be at Memorial Mountain View Cemetery.
