Ricardo Payne Madrigal

March 6, 1942 — May 13, 2020

Ricardo Payne Madrigal, 78, died on May 13, 2020 at home in South Jordan, UT. He was born on March 6, 1942 in Salt Lake City, UT to Frank and Elizabeth Payne Madrigal. He married Sandra Burton on June 23, 1961. When Rick married Sandra, he became a new member to her large family of 14, and all family members instantly loved and accepted Rick as a brother. Rick and Sandra had two sons, Rick and Dallas.
Rick worked as a boiler maker welder for Ajax Press Co. from 1962 – 1972 and Kennecott Copper from 1972 – 2002, at which time he retired. Rick loved living in the 1950’s with classic cars, car shows, Elvis, and weekly visits to Liberty Park. He met Sandra, the love of his life, in 1957. They enjoyed life together by frequenting car shows, dragging State Street, and washing and waxing his beloved 1952 Merc every Sunday at Liberty Park. Rick loved spending the summer at Strawberry Reservoir camping and fishing with Danny and Jackie on their pontoon boat. He had a special seat on the back of the boat reserved just for him, and no one ever thought about sitting in it.
Rick is survived by his wife Sandra, two sons Rick (Erin), Dallas (Anita), brother Frank Madrigal, sister Jenny (Keith) Lane, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 step grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, a brother, and his beloved granddaughter Crystal Ann, and great grandson Zane.
Rick fought a long battle with pain and illness, but never gave up until his frail body needed to rest. Love you forever. Rest in peace.
