Ronda Elise Mazingo left us on Saturday, January 11, 2025. One week short of her 62nd birthday. Ronda is the daughter of Robert Wayne Mazingo (deceased) and Wanda Thompson. She leaves behind her mother, Wanda Hutchings, sister, Yevonne Robin Valdez (Rick), Brothers Wade Justin Mazingo and Robert Trent Mazingo.
Ronda was a bright and lively child, relishing teasing her siblings and family. Her voice put a Opera Diva’s high notes to shame. She wanted her mattress behind the garage to play Mary Poppins with her umbrella because her sister had jumped and said landing hurt. She and her sister came in one afternoon with pink and green oil paint on their hair and clothing. It was a toss-up whether they got buzz cuts or gasoline shampoo.
Ronda completed High School at Jordan High where she enjoyed the yearbook position of photographer. She married Robert Turner. She divorced him because no one could stop his mother interfering in their lives. She worked all her adult life in care centers spending 14 years at St. Vincents. She loved the residents she came to know and related hilarious stories that she heard from them. Ronda loved skiing and was honored to serve as line judge at the Utah Winter Olympics.
Her health deteriorated from smoking and chemical cleaning fumes. She was diagnosed with COPD, diabetes and congestive heart disease. Ronda spent the last years of her life bringing joy and laughter, and some mild disagreement, with her mother. Who knew there was a right or wrong way to hang kitchen towels?
A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor on her birthday, Saturday, January 25th at the Westbrook 1st Ward Chapel 6500 South Dixie Drive, West Jordan, Utah 84084 from two to four p.m. It’s Potluck, so bring a snack to share.
