Rex Lee Young, 94, our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2016, surrounded by family. He was born May 17, 1922 in Cardston, Alberta, Canada to Preston and Ida Albertha Lee Young. He attended schools in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High School. He met our mother Carol Decker at Coconut Grove. They were married for time and eternity in the Manti LDS Temple March 1, 1946. Together they made their first home in Salt Lake City, Utah for 23 years then moved to Layton, Utah for 20 years. They lived briefly in Bountiful, Utah; and they have lived in Sunset, Utah since 1989. He retired from Hill Air Force Base after many devoted years. Rex donated over 60 gallons of blood into his senior years. He volunteered at the Layton City Crisis Center. He was a Davis County crossing guard and loved the children.
Rex is survived by son Leslie Decker Young, Daughters; Karen (Jimbo) Blain, Pamela Young Maurer, Kellie Young (Bill) Boudreau, daughter-in-law Leigh Young; 11 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 3 great great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife Carol, his parents, ten siblings, son Douglas Rex Young, and a great grandson Conner Webb.
Funeral services for Rex will be held at 11:00 am Friday November 25, 2016 at Memorial Redwood 6500 S. Redwood Rd West Jordan, Utah. A viewing will be from 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday November 23, 2016 at the mortuary and also 10:00 am to 10:45 am on Friday. www.memorialutah.com
