Renee Mcfashion

February 23, 1966 — November 30, 2021

Renee Conerly McFashion was born on February 23, 1966 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  She was the second child of Betty Vanison Conerly and Earl Eugene Conerly.  Renee and her sister Deidra (DeeDee) were not only sisters but also “Best Friends”.  When Renee was four years old her family moved from New Orleans, Louisiana, to Pasadena, California.  At an early age she showed a high aptitude for mathematics and was placed in several gifted programs in elementary and on through high school. Renee attended and graduated from John Muir High School where she was also a very proud member of the Mustangs Drill Team.
She met Walter Neal McFashion and after 5 years of dating they married in January of 1994 and immediately moved to Salt Lake City, Utah for her husband’s career.  After building their first home together in South Jordan, Utah they welcomed their first son Bryce Anthony McFashion and three years later their son Spencer Austin McFashion.
Renee loved to travel and her favorite place to visit was Hawaii which she visited multiple times.  She also had a goal to visit all 50 states, which she came very close to doing.  Renee also loved to read, often reading several books from different genres at the same time.  From law books, to criminal mysteries, to dramas, to politics which included the United States Constitution.  She even read Thomas Sowell’s book entitled “Basic Economics” several times for pleasure.  She was also very passionate about politics and loved being in the middle of a political discussion.  Renee was well known to be a fierce competitor who loved to shoot pool as well as play cards and board games…which she always won.  Renee was a people person and her magnetic personality drew others in.  She also had a quiet side often choosing to spend time alone on Sundays, relishing in the quiet moments of coffee, reading and television, all at the same time.
She was a spiritual person and was baptized at an early age and accepted Christ as her savior. She was a kind soul and very generous to her loved ones, friends and strangers, often giving gifts “just because” or helping with their finances as well as teaching others how to create a budget plan.  She even introduced and facilitated Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace program at her home church at the time.
Renee was employed by Verizon Wireless for 13 years and was a loyal and hardworking employee until her death on November 30, 2021.
Her father, Earl Eugene Conerly, proceeded her in death.
Renee is survived by her husband of 27 years Walter Neal McFashion, her two sons Bryce Anthony McFashion and Spencer Austin McFashion, her mother Betty J. Vanison, her sister Deidra Conerly Townsend, her nephew Blair Anthony Townsend, her niece Lauren Symone Bach and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rest in Peace Renee, until we see you again!
