Renee Olsen Carsey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 28, 2024 at the age of 86. She had been residing at Cascades at Riverwalk for the last two years following an injury she sustained.
Born on May 12, 1938, Renee was the fifth of seven daughters born to Wilford Floyd Olsen (1903 – 1971) and Lena Marie Lee (1905 – 1984).
Renee married Vern Wickens Carsey on March 25, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. She was dedicated to her family. Her greatest joy was being a full-time mother. She cherished every moment spent with her children and later with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Although Renee attended West High School, she earned her high school diploma later in life from Murray High. She was a woman of many talents, including crocheting, quilting, and reading. She could always be found creating stuffed animals for each of her beloved grandchildren. Renee also loved doing word searches and most of all telling jokes to anyone who would listen. Her sense of humor and warmth were infectious.
Renee was passionate about her community and volunteered at the Utah Daughters of the Pioneers Museum in Salt Lake City where she also helped establish the local chapter. Renee was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served her faith and her community with devotion and kindness.
Renee is survived by her children Robert Carsey (Bonnie), DeDaun DeJesus (Luis), Paul Carsey (Sue), RobinAnn Hale (Lamoin), Reneta Herera (Nino), Michael Carsey (Kindy), Utahna Lee (Norm); 31 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren, all of w2home were a source of immense pride and joy in her life.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband Vern; parents Wilford and Lena; sisters Barbara, Idamae, Rowana, Geneel, and Floidella.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and aides at Cascades at Riverwalk as well as the staff at Ability Home Health and Hospice for their exceptional care and support during the final years of Renee’s life.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, December 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. You may visit with the family prior to services at a viewing from 9:00 to 10:45 AM. Interment following services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery at the same address.
