Renate Frieda (Dombrowski) Bolen

Renate Frieda (Dombrowski) Bolen passed away peacefully at her home in Draper,
surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at the age of 75 years. She was born on
February 27, 1943 in Hamburg, Germany to Paula Frieda Dombrowski. Renate immigrated to
the United States in 1955, later graduating from South High School in the class of 1961. Renate
attended both beauty school and dietary school throughout the years. Renate married Robert John
Grunwald and together they had four sons, but later divorced. Renate married James Herbert
Bolen. They were sealed for time and all Eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on February 25, 1984.
Renate and James enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and friends. Renate had many
hobbies including quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking. Renate was very active
into service and helping others. She volunteered her time at the Bishop’s Storehouse, and every
Christmas, would make big pots of her famous clam chowder for her ward. Renate did not have
an easy life, but made sure everyone else’s was a little easier.
She is survived by her four sons; John Robert (1961), James Victor (1963), Jeffrey Oscar
(1964), and Jerry Dean Grunwald (1965); three granddaughters; Felicia Ann (Luis), Meagan
Dakota, and Gwen Katrina Grunwald; 2 great-granddaughters; Sophia and Gabriella; and many
step kids and step grandkids whom she treated as her own.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM, with a
viewing at 9:00 AM at the Draper 7th Ward, 12353 South 600 East, Draper, Utah. Burial will
follow on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Paris Cemetery in Paris, Idaho.
