Rella Williams

February 22, 1924 — March 31, 2014

Rella Robertson Williams was reunited with the love of her life on March 31, 2014, after succumbing to congestive heart failure. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend at the time of her passing. Rella was born of strong pioneer heritage on February 22, 1924 to Hyrum Boyack Robertson and Lenorah Rowe in Spanish Fork, Utah. She lived a life centered on family, friends, church, kindness towards all, and a genuine love of life. She loved keeping a beautiful home, hostessing, and sewing.
After graduating from high school in Spanish Fork, Rella attended Brigham Young University and went on to do secretarial work in the Decker Building in Salt Lake City where she met and married Max Trevor Williams on July 12, 1946 and later sealed their marriage in the Salt Lake City Temple. They had four children, Karan Williams (deceased), Gary (Deborah) Williams, Nanette (David) Merrell, and Pamela (Albert) Petty. Max passed away in 1985 and Rella had been a wonderful matriarch of her family all these years since his passing. She had 23 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. They all looked up to her and loved her dearly. She always made a point to know each of them and make each feel very special.
After being married, Rella moved to the Holladay area where she and Max raised their family. They then moved to Murray, Utah in 1969 where she resided until just over 3 years ago. She had spent the last 3 years at The Family Tree Assisted Living Center in Morgan, Utah.
Rella served in many callings for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From Visiting Teacher to Stake Primary President, she was always dedicated to each calling and truly loved her Heavenly Father and endured to the end.
Rella spent many years working for the Forest Service, Leyson Pearsall, and for Utah State in the Victim’s Reparation Division. She then volunteered for over 15 years at Cottonwood and Murray IHC Hospitals giving more than 5,000 hours of service. She loved working and enjoyed the associations she had at each of her jobs.
For several decades Rella and her husband, Max, enjoyed going to the BYU football games and were great fans of BYU sports. They loved cheering on the Cougars. They have left a wonderful endowment to BYU Entrepreneurial Business Program where they have helped many students with scholarships over the years. Their BYU legacy has continued on with their posterity.
A special thanks goes to the angels who served Rella the last few years of her life at The Family Tree Assisted Living Center in Morgan, Utah. They will truly be blessed for the kindness and compassion shown.
Funeral Services will be held April 4, 2014 at the Holladay Cottonwood Mortuary, 4670 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah at 11:00 A.M.
