Reid W. Anderson
1931-2017
Reid Wayne Anderson, 85, of Sandy, passed away September 14, 2017. Reid was born September 28, 1931 to Wallace Anderson and Clara Streadbeck Anderson, and was a life long resident of Sandy. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1949, and went to Woodbury College in Los Angeles, California. Reid joined the Air Force and served his country proudly during the Korean War from 1952-1956, where he was on the flight crew of a C-124 aircraft. While serving abroad in England, he met the love of his life, Brenda Oliver, and they were married on April 9, 1959.
Reid worked for the Mackay Company, and Northern Nevada Construction as a heavy equipment operator for over 40 years until his retirement. He was also a member of the Operating Engineers. He just loved his job.
Reid didn’t see bad in anyone. He was instantly liked by everyone he met, and always had a smile that would light up a room. He dearly loved all animals and they loved him. You never heard Reid complain, ever. His positive attitude for life made him loved by many. He loved life and it showed. His example has set a high standard for us to live up to; his values and principles will continue through us all. He loved the outdoors and always kept active. He put hundreds of miles on his 1997 mountain bike—riding it through many trails and roads in Sandy and Draper. When his grandchildren were small it became a group activity, and they would all hit the Porter Rockwell trail. Going to Wendover was something Reid and Brenda like to do just for fun.
His grandchildren were the light of his life. They will hold great memories of their grandpa forever. He taught us all how to appreciate the good things in life. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughter, Lori (Dale) Garfield and three grandchildren, Jacqueline Graves, Landon Garfield, and Brynn Garfield.
Preceded in death by daughter, Jacqueline Anderson; brothers, Vern and Paul Anderson; sister, Venus Anderson Hocking.
