Reed Taylor

W. Reed Taylor passed away on January 4, 2019 at age 89. He was born on April 13, 1929 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Willard Fox and Rhoda Reed Taylor. He was the oldest of 5 children; Reed, Ray, Byron, Annette, and Marvin.
After graduating from Granite High, he married his sweetheart, Marjean Pincock in the Salt Lake Temple on November 24, 1948. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last November. They have 4 children, Sheryl (Ron) Greensides, Robyn (Tom) Smith, Keven (Kathy) Taylor, and Julie (Kerry) Bugger. They have 18 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren, and 3 great, great grandchildren.
He loved the mountains and enjoyed many camping, fishing, and hunting trips with family and friends. He built a cabin with his dad and brother Ray in the Hidden Lake area on the Upper Weber River. He enjoyed playing many different sports and was a big BYU fan.
He worked at Buehner Concrete where he was a pattern maker and then a draftsman, where he worked on several temples for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After 40 years at Buehners he retired.
He then turned his energy toward his garden. Working along with his brother Ray and neighbor Steve Shaffer. He would till and furrow the garden every two weeks and then share the harvest with many.
He served in many church callings, some of which were bishop (8 yrs.), councilors to bishops, and high councilman (20 yrs.) While a high councilman he was asked to oversee demolition and/or construction of all 3 ward buildings in South Salt Stake.
Reed is survived by his wife, Marjean, four children as mentioned above, his sister Annette (Jim) Clark, sisters-in-law Marilyn Taylor, Julie Taylor, Joan (Paul) Mecham, Gwen Hartley, and Colleen Martin Maynes. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Ray, Bryon, and Marvin, brothers-in-law, Fred Hartley and Stan Martin.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11 am at the Haven Ward (2280 South 300 East). A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Haven Ward, and one hour prior to funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you do something nice for someone.
