Reagan Shawn Wood, 55, passed away peacefully at home after a two-year battle with brain cancer on May 6, 2019.
He was born September 8, 1963 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Warren Sparks and Helen Loraine Wood. Reagan was the youngest son with three brothers and a sister.
Reagan was an eagle scout and served an LDS mission in Cali, Colombia. He attended Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1989. He later went on to complete a Master’s in Taxation at the Washington Institute of Law.
He married his best friend, Jodi Chamberlain on October 13, 1988 in Cedar City, Utah and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Jordan River Temple. Over the years, they were blessed with four beautiful daughters. They would have celebrated 31 years of marriage in October.
Throughout his life, Reagan worked in various management positions. He was an auditor for the Department of Defense, Chief Operating Officer at Educator’s Mutual insurance agency, President of Nelson Ricks Corporation (Banquet Cheese), and lastly worked as a controller for American United Credit Union. He was a Certified Public Accountant and owned his own tax practice for 30 plus years.
He loved the gospel whole heartedly. He strived to put the Lord first and live a righteous life. He loved the Book of Mormon and shared the gospel with those around him. He was diligent in serving in all of his many callings and he ministered to those around him. Through his callings, he touched many people with his testimony and influence.
Reagan loved spending time with his wife and four girls. Whether it was on a tropical island, spending time at Lake Powell, or at a pool in St. George, he loved traveling with his family and spending time in the sun. Reagan could always be found with a Diet Coke in his hand and a smile on his face. He loved camping, playing softball, and playing cards. He was the life of the party wherever he went. Reagan had a quick wit and could always find joy, regardless of the circumstance.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Jodi and four daughters: Alexis Nielsen (Cam), Katelyn Carney (Aaron), Reggie Cuartas (Juan), and Montana. Reagan is also survived by his mother, Helen Loraine Wood and four siblings: Bart Wood (Cathy), Brett Wood (Audry), Kevin Wood, and Kirsten Davis (Kevin). He is also survived by four grandchildren: Ethan, Logan, Gracie, and Lila.
He was proceeded in death by his father, Warren Sparks Wood and Jodi’s parents, Loraine and Lila Chamberlain.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the LDS chapel located at 11038 Braidwood Dr., South Jordan, Utah 84009. A viewing will be held from 9:00-10:30 prior to the service. Interment will be at the Memorial Mountain View Estates located at 3115 E. 7800 S. Cottonwood Heights, Utah 84121.
The family wants to thank all of their loved ones, neighbors, doctors, and hospice for all of the loving care given to Reagan.
