“What’s the kid up to?”
The greatest man we have ever known left this planet to start on his new adventure. Raymond Leroy Hedberg was born Aug. 12th, 1932 to Arthur and Oneda Hedberg and wonderful sister Carolyn Brown. Ray married the love of his life on May 19th, 1952 and enjoyed 68 years of marriage together. Ray served in the Korean War during his time in the Navy, having been stationed on the USS Manchester. He was proud to have served this great country. Ray always worked hard and lived life to its fullest. He began building garages in 1955 and later built commercial buildings as a general contractor. You can’t go anywhere in the Salt Lake Valley without seeing a garage or building that he built. When he wasn’t working, he loved golfing, waterskiing, camping and vacationing with family and friends. Ray and his Uncle Buzz started McRay Fastener in 1983 which later became Ray Fasteners. Everyone loved Ray because he always greeted them like they were his best friend. He made everyone feel special. His loving kind spirit will live in all of us who knew and loved him. Thank you to all of Ray and Joyce’s friends and neighbors for always being there for them. Ray is survived by his wife Joyce, children Lynn (Sandy) and Pam (Steve), 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, Ron (SuzAnn). Ray, known for his many sayings, often liked to share this piece of advice – “Kill all of your alibis and excuses, and you’ll have a way to success.”
