Ray S Howa

March 18, 1945 — May 27, 2020

Our father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Ray Howa, age 75, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family at home on May 27, 2020 in West Valley City, UT.
He was born March 18, 1945 in Dible, Lebanon to Samuel and Mariam Howa. He came to Salt Lake City, UT as a young boy. As U.S. Veteran, he served honorably in the Army for two years where he did a tour in Germany. Upon returning to Utah, he worked for Kennecott Copper as a Pipe Fitter/MMT and retired after 40 years of service.
He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, watching old westerns and Bruce Lee movies, camping, boating, scuba diving, and playing cards. He absolutely loved going out and having coffee and chats with friends while flirting innocently with waitresses. He was an exceptional chess player and loved learning new things.
He was preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Mariam Howa; brothers, Abe, George, Ron, and Michael Howa; sister, Anne Hill; nephews, Shawn and Sherid Howa and grandson, Declan King Howa.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Dorothy Allen Howa; sons, Lonnie and Kevin (Mariana) Howa; daughters, Krystyn (CJ) Mace and Lorie Paulsen; brother, Fred (Becky) Howa; brother-in-law, Wayne Hill; grandchildren, Kaleo, Rocco, Hayleigh, Ashtyn, Bryan, Brandyn, Brytnye (Nik) Aragon; great grandchildren, Matthew, Zahyn and Kaydn; and many nieces and nephews, Julianne, Cathy, Mike, Monica, Mindy, Connie, David, Debbie, Shane, Shannon, and Sheldon.
A special thanks to the staff at the Salt Lake City Veterans Hospital and the nurses (Valerie) and social workers (Chris and Brandon) of Encompass Health for taking such good care of Ray.
